888 Holdings, an online gaming corporation, has expanded its portfolio by acquiring the sports betting platform of BetBright, an Irish gaming company, for £15m.
This strategic move is aimed at enhancing 888’s technology and product capabilities, aligning with the company’s long-term growth plans, particularly for its sports division. The acquisition also includes the integration of BetBright’s Dublin office into 888 Holdings.
This deal grants 888 complete control over its technology and product development in various segments, including casino, sports betting, poker, and bingo.
Itai Pazner, who succeeded Itai Frieberger as CEO in January, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. He highlighted that this move provides 888 with a critical sportsbook component, filling a gap in their proprietary product and technology range. Pazner emphasized that this acquisition is timely, considering the growing popularity and establishment of 888Sport as a global sports betting destination.
The acquisition of BetBright marks the third such transaction by 888 in recent times. The company has faced challenges in the UK market due to increased regulatory measures in the industry.
